This event has passed.

There is an air of excitement at Citadel High School where students are rehearsing for their
performances of the witty musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone . The play opens on April
19th at 7:30pm at the Spatz Theatre with a three night run with a matinee at 2pm on the 21st.
Tickets can be purchased at the Citadel High office or at the door.

After the disappointment of having their musical cancelled last year due to political
developments in the education system students came out in record numbers this year to
audition for roles. Grade 12 student actor Jeremy Foote described the experience by saying he
was excited that Citadel was putting on a musical this year. "It's always such a great
opportunity to connect with others who share your enthusiasm for musical theatre, and just
have fun! After last year I think fun is just what we all needed, and that's exactly what this show
is - fun."

Directed by acclaimed actor/director Karen Bassett, with vocals and choreography by Grafton
Street Dinner Theatre's Becca Guilderson, Citadel's musical is professionally driven with a cast
that includes members of Neptune Theatre's Young Actors Company and Halifax All-City
Music.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a jazz-age parody of a musical comedy told from the perspective of
an asocial musical theatre fan. Initially written by several Canadians as a gag for their
colleague’s stag party, the play subsequently turned into a Tony Award winning Broadway
musical with its complex dance numbers and upbeat music. It’s fitting tagline is: ‘A Musical
Within A Comedy’.
